City aiming to keep recent momentum going

Hull City will aim to keep their recent momentum going when they face Preston North End at the MKM Stadium on Saturday.

Having won their last three league games and picked up three successive clean sheets in the process, the Tigers are very much looking up the league table and have a very healthy 12 point cushion between themselves and the relegation zone.

If City were to earn another three points against Preston, it could move them up into 16th place in the Championship table.

There was a flurry of transfer activity on deadline day by the Tigers which saw Allahyar Sayyadmanesh, Marcus Forss and Liam Walsh all arrive on loan. In addition to this, City managed to turn Ryan Longman’s loan into a permanent deal which was a canny bit of business. The fans will undoubtedly be excited to catch a glimpse of the new signings if they feature in Shota Arveladze’s squad on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Preston currently occupy 13th position in the league table and are five places above City. The Lilywhites are managed by Ryan Lowe. Lowe was appointed manager in December as he joined the club from League One outfit Plymouth Argyle following the departure of previous incumbent Frankie McAvoy.

Preston North End 1-4 Hull City, 7th August 2021

The most potent goal threat that Preston possess is Danish striker Emil Riis Jakobsen. Jakobsen has a tally of 12 league goals so far this season.

City could complete the double over the Lilywhites. It was the opening day of the season when these sides last met which resulted in a 1-4 victory for the Tigers.
