Tigers face another former boss as West Brom visit MKM Stadium

Hull City face another former manager on Saturday as West Bromwich Albion visit the MKM Stadium.

The Baggies have picked up a solitary point from five league games under the management of ex City boss Steve Bruce. As a result, Bruce knows that he needs positive results as soon as possible to turn things round. He was brought in to replace Valérien Ismaël, but it hasn’t gone well thus far with the club having dropped to 13th place and now being eight points adrift of the play-off places.

This presents City with a good opportunity to pile more pressure on their opponents. Following the 0-3 victory at Peterborough United last Saturday, the Tigers are 14 points clear of the relegation zone and are virtually safe. Therefore, they’ve got the freedom to play out the last 11 league games of the season and see how high up the league table they can finish.

It would be very harsh for Shota Arveladze to drop anyone that started last week given the very good performance at London Road last time out. It’s also important to get some consistency back in the starting 11 so the players can regain a proper rhythm in their play without being disrupted by injuries or suspensions.

The 3-4-2-1 formation clearly suits the players currently at the club so it would be wise to stick with it for at least the rest of the season. Of course, Arveladze has his own plans in mind and that will come to fruition over the Summer when he can get more of his own players in. Until then, he’s got a young and exciting squad who are full of potential who’ll look to finish the season strongly.
